Allow me to start with an apology.
It’s been a bit quiet here recently. Too quiet.
Time to break the silence
I can come up with all kinds of excuses, but here’s the honest approach.
- First of all: why would I want to spend time on screens and keyboards, while I can also spend time outside or talk to a person instead of a screen.
- Secondly, and possibly more importantly, and definitely more honestly: why would anyone want to read the stuff I write anyway?
IMPOSTER SYNDROME
Who am I that anyone would listen to me? What do I have to say that I would be a so-called ‘content creator?’ What if they find out I’m just winging it? What can I even add to this limitless ocean of information that is accessible at our fingertips? Hasn’t everything already been said and done?
Here’s a few quotes that help me stay on track in times of insecurity…
“Everything that needs to be said has already been said. But because nobody was listening, it needs to be said again.” — Charlie Munger, right hand man of Warren Buffett
”Imposter syndrome – when our need to impress is greater than our desire to progress.” — Chris Robinson, of Maxwell Leadership
OK, one more…
“It’s impossible to be a life-changing presence to some without being a total joke to others. Criticism is proportional to impact.” — Mark Manson, author of ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a ___!’
AND YOU?
What about yourself? Do you ever feel like a scam, like you’re winging it, like you’re making stuff up? Do you even dare to admit you used AI for that project everyone praised you about?
(I didn’t use AI for this post, I promise! — not this one at least :))
What do you do to deal with your insecurities and keep doing what you know deep inside you’re called to do?
Would love to hear from you! Write me a quick response with a simple comment below.
